Comprehensive Exams are essential because it is the office’s way to get to know you as a dental patient. Also, it is the first time you’ll have one-on-one time with the staff and dentist! X-rays are necessary because they help to see more than what the eye can capture. Dental X-rays are the only way to truly see certain dental problems! You will receive a panoramic X-ray to evaluate your whole mouth. Next, a set of Bitewing X-rays will determine the need for fillings, root canals, or crowns. A hygienist will then complete “perio charting” to gently evaluate your gum health. Some dentists take patient photos or photos of specific teeth so that you can visualize the problem areas. Also, these can be useful in before/after transformations!

During your first visit, your new dentist will meet you face to face and get to know you and your medical and dental history. They will give you a physical exam, gently exploring your oral health. If there are any findings, the dentist will share with you, showing X-rays and photos.
